To my friends around the world:
You may not hear from me for some time. As you can see from the attached News Release, I am off on another world tour by motorcycle. This one will take me to some very far away places. A friend of mine, Nick Sanders, from England, just entered the World Book Of Records by completing a trip around the world by motorcycle in 33 days and some hours. I plan to take a little longer, about 4 years. I should see a little more than friend Nick did.
The first leg of my tour will begin October 4 at 3:21 PM. This leg will be approximately 30,000 miles long and will take me through Mexico and Central America and then to the bottom of South America by Christmas. Returning through Brazil and the Amazon Jungle I hope to complete this leg by Spring of 1998.
The first part of my adventure will be covered in a three part series in the Magazine MOTORCYCLE TOUR AND CRUISE. I will also sell some stories to other magazines but the guys at MOTORCYCLE TOUR AND CRUISE get the exclusive coverage between now and June of 1998.
Several of you have asked why I would attempt a second motorcycle ride around the world. The answer is not simple.
Some time ago I was offered a pretty good job. However, I would have to commute and be limited to the usual vacation days. I thought about the money I could make, the comfort of a medical plan, and the other company benefits. Then I started to think of the cold winter, the rain, and then I decided there must be more to life for me, so I started to think about the Sahara, India, mountains and deserts and decided there was more to me
than a good paying office job. Soooooooo..I am off on another world tour.
Faxes can be sent to me at 303-937-9587 and email can be sent to geniemay@earthlink.net. While my phone will still be connected I will not be checking with it very often. You can try to reach me if you need to at 303-937-8231. This is my very favorite associate Jean Turk who I will make contact with from time to time.
I want to thank all of you who have wished me a careful and successful trip. Your warm thoughts, especially for my safety, remind me of why you are nice people. I will think of you in my travels and wish you all well. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year 1998, hopefully from the small fishing town of Ushuaia, Argentina, at the southern tip of South America.
Greg
