Dr. Gregory Frazier is a professional motorcycle adventurer,
journalist and author. His motorcycle travels have taken him around
the world and currently he is on his second circumnavigation of the
globe. He is the only American motorcycle adventurer who also
professionally races motorcycles and often he stops his travels to
test his racing skills on race tracks around the world. His name can
be found in racing record books aboard BMW and Indian Motocycles.
A Crow Indian, he lives on a ranch in the Big Horn Mountains of
Montana. His published works include motorcycle travel and adventure
books. He is a regular columnist for Motorcycle Tour and Cruiser and
articles by him appear widely throughout the world in the motorcycling
press and travel magazines.
Gregory likes to taste local adventure in his travels around the
world. In Pamplona, Spain, he parked his motorcycle and spent four
mornings "running with the bulls" in the annual craziness known as the
Celebration of St. Fermin, the patron Saint of fools. After that
adventure he stated, "I never knew a bull was faster than a man. I
learned by losing the race with one."
His adventures do not always end happily. In Alaska his
motorcycle sank to the bottom of an icy stream when his self-made raft
broke apart. Three days later he had retrieved his motorcycle and
belongings from the stream and after hours of drying everything out,
laughingly said, "At least everything is clean."
As the organizer of the Elephant Ride (the world´s highest,
coldest motorcycle event) Gregory annually rode motorcycles over
trecherous ice and snow covered trails in the Rocky Mountains in
February until the event expired in 1999.He is also an annual
contestant in the BIG DOG RIDE, known as the world´s highest, toughest
BMW GS motorcycle race.
Gregory has ridden motorcyles literally, "to the ends of the
earth." Alaska has seen him 22 times. The North Cape in Norway has
seen him twice. In 1998 he was the only American to ride from Alaska
to the southernmost tip of South America, Ushuaia. His adventures
have also seen him in Africa, New Zealand, Australia and numerous
faraway places like Turkey, Estonia, Romania, to name a few. One of
only seven Americans to have completed tours around the globe by
motorcycle, he will be the only one to have done so twice when he
finishes his current world tour.
He has worked as a firefighter, film producer, motorcycle tour
guide, fund raiser, accountant, business executive, political lobbyist
and government consultant. Today he classifies himself as a
"draconian economist who knows he is really a motorcycle leaf in the
wind with wanderlust." Single with no dependants, other than his
motorcycles, he contributes much of his adventurous spirit and two
wheel wanderlust to his American Indian heritage. He says of his
adventures, "I hate adventure that has anything to do with snakes or
sharks."
