QUEBEC

QUEBEC IMAGE

One hears many bad things about the French speaking people of Quebec.  And if you hang around there long enough and look for it I am sure you will find it.   But, we report only the good things of which there are plenty.

Of course, one can just ride to Quebec.

But there is a more interesting way if you are in Labrador.  Take the freighter that starts at the far eastern tip of the St. Lawrence until one reaches the paved road.   This road is being extended each year.   As of August  '99, it went as far east as NATASHQUAN:

NATASHQUAN

AT  Natashquan, the motorcycle can be offloaded from the freighter and you then travel along the coast down to Quebec City. After leaving Natashquan there are a few small towns along the way.   The first large town is Sept-Iles where there is a Zimmer  (bed and breakfast) owned by a motorcyclist.  It is not easy to find because there is no sign and it is actually located before you get to the city.   Go to the information place and they can get you a brochure or Click Here.

It is best to bypass Montreal by staying on Hy 138 until Hull, then switch to HY 158, to HY 148 to Pembroke in Ontario.  If there is time then one will find many interesting roads to the north, such as HY 117.
