A friend of mine just came back from a (tour) in the Andes. It was an apparently a gruelling 4+weeks starting in Santiago. Only he and the Guide for the 20 participants did not fall with their own bikes. Three had to go home with broken bones and one couple on a GS could not cope two-up. Don't know what they did the rest of the trip. That is for the young virile drivers which leaves me out. I prefer the comfortable rides on pavement. I'll rough it out in tents as long it is not raining continuously. I don't mind cold but hate icy roads.
