if you planing to cross from "san pedro de atacama"(chile) to "uyuni" (bolivia). you can go in S. Pedro to talk with people at "EXPEDICIONES PAMELA TOURS" (that is whot I did). they are nice people and they 'll give you a very basic map of the trip they do and basiclly it is the same you are going to do.

on the way there is not much signs to follow and there are two diferent roads you can take to Uyuni: one go straigt to Uyuni and the other go by "Uyuni salt lake" . I think that second one is that you whant to take.
there are not gas estations (only en S. Pedro) and then Uyuni.
from S. Pedro to Uyuni passing by "Uyuni salt lake" you will ride 610 km. so the way to get gas over there is from the trucks 4x4 doing the same trip bringing other tourist over there.the driver they will sell to you for a litle bit more of course.
you are going to be on very highs so your bike is goin to cosumse more then usall.
when you will cross other people over there all ways ask if you are on the right way to the point you mark in your map. may be easy to take the wrong way.
