In Cusco now. It has been raining heavily on the route up here so much mud, high rivers and landslides on the 150 km stretch of dirt - made worse by the fact that our headbearings failed on the way.

By the way the dirt road we had our tumble on (which should be dry and quite passable)  (EDITOR'S NOTE: a rock got caught inbetween the front tire & fender.  A good reason to have off road moto fenders) starts north of Caraz, carry on to Huallanca then it drops down to the coast via Tablones and Tangucha (check spelling of the last as our map is a bit worn). We were advised not to take the alternative route starting at Huaylas.
