LOCATION: Customs in Ecuador is located very near the Airport. If you are leaving the airport, turn right and walk about 500 meters or so until you reach and unnamed street and turn right. After a short block this dead ends at a fence. Turn left and then after about 10 meters turn right into a compound. Go another 10 meters or so and you will see an entrance normally with a guard. Go upstairs and down the hall to the place where you must turn right or left. Turn right and immediately go into the door on your left. Do not waste your time at the single window counter. Here there are two women who speak some English. Ask for the special form they gave Dan Clark or Eric Haws. This is a form which will allow you to ride your moto for at least up to 60 days. They will issue you this form everytime you return to Ecuador so you can leave it somewhere in a garage and return for more Ecuador if you wish. So, if you need more time than given at the boarder, this is the proceedure you can use.
The special form is shown below. Make a copy, put in your own information and take it with you. It will make things faster. They will want a copy of the title, registration and passport. Then you will have to take it back down the hall and have it signed by an official. This official will want to see the paperwork which allowed you to bring the moto to Ecuador in the first place. Perhaps two hours of your time. Keep the original with you but make a copy to show police at the blockades. They never asked for the original.
