DAVE BARR is a rugged extraordinary adventurer who rode a 1972 HD around the world...despite the loss of both his legs from an antitank mine explosion in Angola in 1981.
His trip, from September, 1990, to May, 1994 covered six continents and over 83,000 miles; it took three and one half years! Dave crossed the Sahara, the Namib and the Gobi deserts, circled the continent of Australia, and negotiated the Andes during the avalanche seasons. He was the first motorcyclist to be photoed in both Peiking and Red Square in Russia.
He is the first person with a major disability to circle the world both north-south and east-west on a motorcycle. His exciting journey helped to raise awareness for people with disabilities and prompted television documentaries in Russia and China.
DAVE HAS ALSO RIDEN A MOTORCYCLE AND SIDECAR ACROSS RUSSIA FROM COAST TO COAST, IN THE WINTER. ANOTHER FIRST FOR HIM.
