ACCOMMODATIONS IN ECUADOR, MAINLY OFF THE PAN AMERICAN
Here are a listing of accommodations that we recommend and we have tried to emphasis those
that are not on the Pan American Highway but we have listed those also if we know about them.
QUITO:
There are many accommodations in Quito, the only problem is finding those that fit into your pocket book and can store your moto in safety.
#1. CASA HELBLING. Ran by a German, many Germans stay here. Moto parking. Includes a kitchen where one can cook own food. About two blocks from US Embassy, and 4 blocks from New Town. Said we could store our moto there.
#2. RINCON DE CASTILLA (Versalles 1127 y Carrion) Ran by a Swiss? recommended by several moto owners in Ecuador we did not stay there but some of our friends did.
#3. CASA BAMBO. Just south of the Military Hospital, a little harder to find than the others, but the best view. There is moto parking but somewhat limited as when we were there they had four motos in storage for some Germans that had not returned for two years or so. One can cook ones own food here. They also have an excellent place in Canoa.
#4 HOSTAL SIERRA NEVADA. (Joaquin Pinto & Cordero) Good moto parking and nice facilities but a little more expensive than others listed here. www.hotel-snevada-tours.com.
OTAVALO
Just north of Quito is the city of Otavalo and reportedly the place to stay is
IBARRA
Just north of Otavalo is the city of Ibarra.
The moto place to stay is the Hostal "El Dorado" which is really a hotel but it has moto parking in back, an internet rom and is the place that the local moto riders stay. Located at Oviedo 547 y Sucre, just off the main street downtown, their email is Hostalnet@latinmail.com.
CANOA
A nice little town and the best place to stay on the entire coast is CASA BAMBO. Secured moto parking one can spend about $1.00 for a tent place or one up to various places for up to $10:00. They do not allow bus tour groups.
