HERE IS A SHORT ACCOUNT OF AN AUSTRALIAN TRIP ONE WOULD NOT EXPECT.

Did a practice run run on BMW going to Sydney recently, via Birdsville

Track, Flinders Ranges, Melbourne, Snowy Mnts. Got caught in an

un-seasonal snowstorm in Snowy mountains, when about 8 in dropped.

I was already tired after riding on wet red clay in very steep terrain,

sliding off the camber and dropping bike many times, when the rain

turned into snow. This gave a better riding surface than wet clay,

but slowed me down even more as I couldn't ride with visor down...

splotchy wet snow, or visor/glasses off, stinging eyeballs. Had to

seek shelter with a farmer for first time in my life, until snow stopped

midday next day. Nobody would believe me until I showed them photos !!
